Students engage deeply with Eastern Christian theology and philosophy while developing practical competencies in law, languages, and the socio-economic realities of the Middle East.
The program is designed in accordance with international academic standards, ensuring both academic excellence and global portability of the degree. Students who complete at least 72 credit hours without nishing the full degree may be awarded an Associate of Arts (A.A.) in TPLL.

The Great
Books Program
Special BIOU Programs
BA students will also attend, in parallel with their studies, an innovative new program titled ‘ The Great Books.’ The Great Books Program includes di erent courses, each focused on one of the great books written throughout the history of human civilization. It will include approximately thirty (30) weeks of reading per year and is a four-year program based on a reading list of (50) classical books in the areas of world history, Christian spiritual writings, philosophy, world religions, ecology, world literature, and science.
This innovative new program, unique of its kind internationally, will also be open to students from other universities, as well as to practitioners wishing to apply. e courses will carry no credits, but examinations will be conducted on a pass/fail basis with no numerical grades. Special certi cates will be issued for each course, as well as for the completion of the whole program. For BIOU undergraduate students, The Great Books Program is obligatory and must be successfully completed.
The Spiritual
Retreat
Program
Special BIOU Programs
Undergraduate students, as part of their studies, will participate in a spiritual retreat program especially designed for them. Once a year, and for a limited period of time (starting from three days in their rst year up to forty days in the nal year), they will have the unique opportunity to spend time at the heart of Al-Maghtas, the UNESCO-recognized Baptism Site in Jordan. Postgraduate students, as part of their studies, will also participate in the program but for a shorter period of seven days.
An advanced academic and professional program o ering a comprehensive study of the legal and normative tradition of the Eastern Orthodox Church.
Drawing on the heritage of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, the program connects classical canonical sources with the contemporary legal framework of Jordan. e degree culminates in a research-based master’s thesis.
Students who complete coursework without the thesis may be awarded a Higher Diploma in Orthodox Canon Law.

Situated in the religious and cultural context of Jordan and the Levant, this program combines close textual study of the Bible and the Qur’an with contemporary socio-political analysis.
Students examine the historical development, interpretation, and interaction of Christian and Islamic traditions alongside the legal, cultural, and institutional frameworks that shape coexistence in the Middle East. Graduates are prepared for roles in academia, diplomacy, education, and community leadership.

Students engage with key themes such as hesychia, the Jesus Prayer, and theosis, while developing advanced skills in reading primary spiritual texts. e program also adopts a comparative perspective, placing Orthodox spiritual experience in dialogue with Islamic and Asian traditions.
